CLEANINGThere's no need to scrub the floor when you leave your vacation
rental, but dishes should be clean and put away, rubbish should be disposed of, and your apartment or villa should be in a tidy state.
The author of this article has seen vacation apartments in Tuscany left in
disgraceful condition with food remains left all over the table and sink
(and floor), dishes unwashed etc. Please bear in mind that you're
staying in a private home, whether the owners are there or not, and some
hardworking person has to clean up after you. Traditionally, Italians
charge a fee called a "final cleaning fee" by the same
rationale as for a cover charge in a restaurant. This, together with
heating costs, should be the only "extra", but in fact this
cleaning fee is now more often than not included in the rent. In any
case, please show some consideration for your hosts when you leave. TOWELS AND LINENGenerally one bath towel and one hand towel per person will be provided. Unless otherwise stated, fresh
linen and towels are provided weekly but beds are always left for the guest to make up.
If you're
staying for more than few days, very likely extra cleaning services and linen
changes will be available for an
additional charge. |
